Chipotle Night!

Today was a normal Wednesday in the life of a working mama. I got up at 6:00 (after snoozing a few too many times), showered, and headed to my happy place before heading to work. My happy place = Starbucks. I tried the new Tiramasu Latte with nonfat milk and whipped cream. It was good, but I will probably stick to my normal choices.

After my lovely 1 1/2 hour commute, I checked my email and dug into my overnight oats. I haven’t made this in a long time and it was well overdue.

I worked for a few more hours, answered a dozen of phone calls, and got hung up on once. It was nice little morning. Around noon, Jeanette and I headed outside for a glorious 6.83 mile run. While we had to dodge some snow and ice covered roads and sidewalks, the sun was shining and the temps were balmy (30 degrees!).

Lunch was leftovers from last night’s dinner. I think it actually tasted better today than it did last night. Spoiler alert: This will be my lunch tomorrow too. I also had a Yoplait Greek Whipped Yogurt and it was a nice change from the traditional kind.

While I was slaving away at work, my mom sent me this beauty. How rude! 🙂

My afternoon snack was a banana with a side of almond butter on plates leftover from my baby shower over 2 years ago. I should really quit my day job to be a food photographer.

Dinner was you guessed, Chipotle! Ever since Chris has been off work on Wednesday nights, I’ve been picking up Chipotle for dinner. I’m always excited to eat it, but man does it feel like a rock in my stomach now.

IMG_7110

We usually end Chipotle night with fro yo, but it’s going on 9 pm now and they close in a few minutes. Looks like I will have to settle for something from my stash while Chris and I watch some Law and Order: SUV (you Sopranos fans out there will know why we call it SUV instead of SVU). What to choose?? Red velvet oreos, white fudge oreos, Reese’s Hearts, peanut M&Ms, Hershey’s Hugs. I do have ice cream in the fridge, but that is the last thing I ate before I got sick on Saturday night and I may never eat that ice cream again.

What time did you wake up this morning?

What kind of job do you have? Customer Service, cube life, service industry?

Almond butter or peanut butter?

The BEST way to start the day…

I woke up around 7:30 this morning and since everyone else was still sleeping, I got dressed and headed to my happy place.

It was a beautiful morning for an easy 9 mile run…and a bathroom selfie.

IMG_6482.JPG
After my run, I went to the grocery store (we needed everything but my main motivation was that I wanted to make pancakes) and Starbucks of course.

Pancakes with berries and maple chicken sausage 🙂

The rest of the day was spent outside enjoying our warm November weather.

I was hungry for dinner by 4, but I snacked on a banana and pretzels (Trader Joe’s Honey Wheat Pretzels are AMAZING) dipped in almond butter to hold me over.

Dinner was also amazing. Yup, that’s a sweet potato topped with black beans (mixed with taco seasoning), cheese, avocado, and sour cream with mixed veggies on the side.

IMG_6487.JPG
I wish I could take credit for this amazing combination, but I got the idea from my running partner in crime Jeanette.

Another great combination…yogurt, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce.

When do you like to run/workout/yoga/bike? Morning or evening?

What’s your favorite easy healthy dinner? I need ideas!

Race week!

My next race, the Rehoboth Half Marathon, is this Saturday! I’m really excited to spend a weekend at the beach with my family, minus Chris :-(, and hopefully get a PR. I’m shooting for under 1:45. I’m nervous already.

Now that race week is here, I need to be smart about my workouts so I’m ready to rock on Saturday. Here are my workout plans for this week:

Monday
Stair climber, rowing machine, plank

Tuesday
6.3 mile run at 7:52 pace with negative splits. 2:45 plank.

Saturday

Today’s Eats!

I didn’t really eat dinner last night (unless you count fro yo as dinner), so I woke up starving. The solution…cinnamon raisin swirl bagel with maple almond butter.

20131203-145053.jpg
I also had a banana before I did my lunchtime run.

Pumpkin ravioli in a butter sage sauce. Yum!

20131203-145204.jpg
Yogurt covered raisins.

20131203-155336.jpg
Salad with grilled chicken, marinated mushrooms, tomatoes, Parmesan cheese, and pancetta.

20131203-204237.jpg
You will just have to imagine the homemade brownie sundae I had for dessert. For my standards, it was actually pretty small. 🙂

Since no post is complete without a picture of Annabelle…

How was your Tuesday?
Anybody else racing this weekend?

A long rainy commute

I woke up bright and early (4:30) yesterday to beat the potential wintry weather. The “weather” didn’t start until later in the day and it only ended up being rain…lots of cold windy rain.

Breakfast! Lemon Zest Luna Bar

I’ve been on a lemon kick lately…if you haven’t tried these yet, do so immediately.

Workout! Body pump class and 2 easy miles on the treadmill. I had one of those really good classes…heart rate up, sweaty, and fun!

Lunch! Almond butter and strawberry preserves sandwich, yogurt, and yogurt covered raisins (I ate these as a snack later).

Commute! I spent some quality time with my car yesterday. I left work at 4 and got home a little after 6. Thankfully, I had yogurt covered raisins to keep me occupied.

Dinner! I picked up Subway for me and my dad. I really didn’t want to get out of the car.

I’m addicted to bags of all kinds and my new Thirty One Weekender bag came yesterday. It’s super cute and very roomy. 🙂

Are you addicted to buying anything? Purses? Shoes? Running clothing? All of the above??

TGIF!!!

Yay, we made it to the weekend! Here’s a bunch of randomness from my day…you’re welcome. 🙂

10 mile run during my lunch break

20131025-173123.jpg
Awesome pre-run breakfast…wheat toast with almond butter and sliced banana. I ate this amount times 2.

20131025-173238.jpg
My coworkers, Alex and Kelly, are trying to get back on track with diet and exercise. Kelly, who gained the Furlough Five, did her “Girls Next Door” workout video 3 times this week and yoga once this week. Alex went to the gym 3 times this week and he was feeling his leg workout from yesterday today. Way to go guys!

I am so excited for tonight. Annabelle is putting on her costume for the first time and we are going trick or treating at a local mall. Don’t worry, I’ll take a ton of pictures.

Leave some encouraging words for Alex and Kelly!

A relaxing morning and my new favorite snack

Most mornings I wake up at 4:45 and rush to get ready, pump, and get myself and all of my crap luggage into the car and make it to yoga for a 6 am class…and it takes me about a half hour to get there. I’m stressing out just writing about it!

I had planned on doing my usual routine this morning, but I decided to hit snooze and I got up when AB woke up around 6:30. I fed her and we snuggled for a little while and it was the perfect way to spend a dreary morning.

20130702-162605.jpg
I finally left the house and made a quick stop to make my morning even better.

20130702-162700.jpg
During lunch, I enjoyed a sweaty but easy paced 6 miles. It felt really good to just run and not worry about time or pace :-).

The only thing that gets me through the afternoon at work is snack time. I really liked today’s snack.

Bananas, strawberries, blueberries, and almond butter. Yum! I’m really sorry it looks gross in the picture…it was the opposite of gross.

20130702-163236.jpg

Since I am always thinking about food, I cannot wait to get home for ice cream cake a healthy dinner!

What did you snack on today?

Running with friends and Self Portraits at the dentist.

Annabelle is starting to feel better and I am so relieved that she can breathe easier. 🙂

This is my new favorite picture…Annabelle and her Poppy.

Since I was lazy relaxed this past weekend, I did double workouts to start the week.

Monday:  Spin and Bikram yoga

Tuesday:  Bikram and Body Pump

Today I finally got to run with my running group during my lunch break.  I haven’t really run with the group since I was pregnant, and it was awesome to get back out with them.  Since we were running at noon and it’s June and it’s Maryland, we got to enjoy 6.3 sweaty miles in the 90 degree heat.  I took a shower (ok, not like an “at home” shower but I washed the sweat off) but I was still a hot mess when I got back to my desk.  I think my coworkers are used to it by now :).

I left work early and headed to the dentist.  After he gave me the shots in my gums (ouch!) to numb everything, he left the room to let the numbness take affect.  Since he was gone for a while (he admitted that he was watching the O’s game), I was bored and decided to see how I smile when I can only feel half of my face.  Warning!  This picture is really terrible but I had one of those “laugh out loud can’t stop laughing” laughs once I saw it.  I am seriously LOLing right now.  I’m gonna regret this in the morning…

037

Since my mouth was feeling pretty terrible, I just had some toast with almond butter and a kiwi for dinner.  I also had a bowl of Breyer’s Light Cookies and Cream with a Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie on the side…not pictured because it’s shameful how much ice cream I can eat.

How do you feel about going to the dentist?

Do you prefer running in warm weather or cold weather?
