Fun Things Friday!

1. It’s Friday and I’m heading to the beach this weekend. 🙂

2. I ran with a big group or work friends on Wednesday and my knee actually felt pretty good. Sooo happy about this.

(My beloved Pure Flow 2s)

3. I made a few pretty tasty dinners this week!

Rosemary and olive oil flatbread pizzas (with veggie pepperoni) and steamed zucchini

Over easy egg, waffle fries, and chicken with spinach, zucchini, and cheese

4. My dad does not drink much water…like close to none. I ordered convinced him to start drinking a big glass of water each night and he has started doing it on his own. 🙂

(He is wearing one of Chris’ hats and we were laughing at how funny he looks in it.)

5. Molly made herself very comfortable in bed last night. ❤ She uses Chris' pillow like a human!

Tell me something fun about your Friday!

Do you have a dog? Is he or she a bed hog?
Yes and yes. 🙂

Memorial Day 2014

I had an emotionally and physically draining weekend, but Annabelle, Poppy, and Mommy had a great holiday yesterday.

After hanging out and doing housework in the morning, Annabelle and I headed to the trail for a run. I didn’t take her out in the jogging stroller during my marathon training (afraid I would hurt something by running different), so it’s nice to be doing it again. However, my knee is still giving me some pain so I ended up doing 8 miles of a run/walk. It is what it is and Annabelle and I enjoyed each other’s company for that hour and a half.

Once dinner rolled around, my dad fired up the grill and we had burgers, corn on the cob, baked beans, and pop chips. Yumm!

Dessert? Why of course I had dessert! I ate a s’mores bar topped with my cool whip/pudding mixture. It was perfect. 🙂

I went to bed counting my blessings and thanking those who have served to protect our country.

Favorite burger? Beef, turkey, or veggie?

If you have a jogging stroller, do you like using it? What kind do you have?

Memorial Day Weekend So Far!

Hi everybody! I hope you are having a great weekend spending time with family and friends and eating lots of great food. Here are some pictures from my weekend so far. 🙂

New flip flops 🙂

Love her ❤

Pancake breakfast

New workout clothing from Fabletics!

Workout courtesy of Julie. I added in different variations of squats and kicks in between the sets listed here. I also did 30 minutes on the elliptical. Sometimes, it feels really good to sweat.

6 mile run with one of my favorite running buddies. Really missing my marathon training buddy Jeanette though!

I made these beauties for Wilber’s first bday party today! The recipe is on Janae’s blog and they are amazing! PS Wilbur is a dog and unfortunately he could not have any. 😉

What’s the best part of your weekend so far???

Thank a veteran this weekend!

I feel it already.

You know that feeling when you haven’t strength trained in 3 weeks and then you jump back into a workout ( i.e., a very challenging release of body pump) at the same weight you were using before… That’s me right now. My muscles don’t actually hurt yet, but that spot on my upper back where the bar rests, man is that sore right now. I know I’ll be feeling my quads and chest in the morning…and yes, I like that feeling. 😉
My afternoon snack was amazing today! Sea salt is really popular these days.

Fast forward through work and my hour and fifteen minute commute home, and we have dinner. I LOVED dinner tonight…Chicken and vegetable scramble with a side of potato puffs.

I used Perdue Short Cuts…

And this amazing product from Alexia.

First, I cooked tomatoes, carrots, and spinach and then added the chicken to warm it through.

Next, I added the eggs and scrambled. I used 4 whole eggs and 2 egg whites and this made 3-4 servings.

Once the egg was cooked through, I served with a side of potato puffs and an Honest Fizz “soda”.

The rest of my evening was spent chasing around Annabelle (aka Annabellion) and then cleaning up the destruction she leaves behind. 🙂

Now if these Orioles would just win this ball game…

Favorite way to eat eggs?

Favorite baseball team?

Anybody else sore from today’s workout?

I just didn’t have much to say…

While I love to blog and share all of my nonsense with my 10 loyal followers (love you guys), I just didn’t have much to say last week. I took a complete 9 days off from exercise to let my body recover from my marathon. My knee was super sore afterwards and I decided to be smart and just rest. What did I do with my free time? I went out to lunch with coworkers, shopped on the internet, read some articles, and took some walks. At home, I did more loads of laundry than I can ever remember doing in the past and Chris and I emptied the garage, trashed a lot of stuff, and reorganized as we put stuff back. The garage is still pretty full (lots of baby stuff), but it’s organized. 🙂
I worked from home yesterday and started back on my healthy eating regimen. I wasn’t super crazy during my rest week, but I tend to eat worse when I don’t exercise.

Breakfast: organic whole grain waffles topped with strawberries, blueberries, and agave.

Lunch: turkey burger with a side of steamed zucchini and squash

Snack: Greek yogurt topped with Cheerios. Try it, you’ll thank me.

Dinner: chicken pesto meatballs, sweet potato, and broccoli/cauliflower

Now for dessert!

“Healthy” Chocolate Mousse with Angel Food Cake

– One container of no sugar added pudding
– One mini angel food cake (or a slice of angel food cake)
– Light Cool Whip
– Mini chocolate chips

1. Place angel food cake in a bowl.
2. In a separate bowl, mix 1 container of pudding with 3 heaping tablespoons of cool whip = chocolate mousse.
3. Top the angel food cake with the chocolate mousse.
4. Top with some mini chocolate chips.

My first workout in 9 days…a very sweaty spin class followed by some abs and push-ups. At work, we only have about 20 spin bikes so we have to sign up for class. I signed up but all the bikes were taken when I got to class. The instructor saved me from having a compete meltdown (I really needed that workout) and he offered me his bike. Thanks, Sean!

PS Thanks for sticking around and reading and commenting. It really does make my day to read what you have to say. 🙂

What’s the longest amount of time you went without exercising?

Cheerios…original or honey nut?

Fun Things Friday: Stories from my iPhone

Happy Friday! I am so glad this week is over… I feel like I may have to bury my face in pizza and ice cream tonight.

Ok, so here are some random pics from my phone and I’m going to consider them “fun” today. Mmk. 🙂

I am properly preparing Annabelle for life…she knows the importance of a selfie.

My mom’s card to me on race morning…I absolutely LOVE it and I tear up every time I read it.

AB snuggling up with Molly. She just learned how to say “stay” and point to Molly. 🙂

I had an intense craving for Chipotle this week. Why is it so good??

Baby shower for my work friend Alex and his wife Regina. Can’t wait to meet their baby girl! PS Marissa makes the best cupcakes.

I took one of my internet BFF’s advice and added strawberries and bananas to my cereal (Kashi Honey Nut) and it was amazing.

Linda’s Life Lesson for the week: If you see that ice cream is 2 for $5, you must get 2. Or as my friend Matt pointed out, I should have gotten 4.

How was your week?

What are you looking forward to this weekend?

5 year Anniversary, Mother’s Day, and 7 seconds

Hey guys, I’m so sorry to have been absent for so long. Lots of family, life, traffic, work, running things going on and when I have down time, I usually fall asleep. Yup, I need a whambulance.
So, Saturday was our 5 year anniversary!

We celebrated in a great way (or at least one of us thinks so). We headed to Wilmington, DE to pick up my packet and stay the night for the Delaware Marathon! We had dinner with my friend Jeanette and her family and then I tried to get in bed early and get a decent night’s sleep. Romantic, I know. 🙂
Sunday was Mother’s Day…I hope all the moms out there had a great day! I had a really great day…marathon, lunch with friends, dinner date and ice cream with Chris.

So, I might have mentioned that I was training for a marathon and hoping to qualify for Boston (I’ll have a full race recap up soon). Well, I ran my heart out and finished in 3:35:07. Yup, you read that right. I missed it by 7 seconds! Even though I missed a BQ, I did place first in my age group and went home with this awesome bobble head trophy. 🙂

My training partner and great friend Jeanette placed 2nd in her age group and qualified for Boston!

Cheers to another round of training this summer and attempt number 2 in September. Who wants to train with me?!?!?
Missing my mama right now. Long story, but she is in Florida and I’m in Pennsylvania and I miss her like crazy. Love u mom!

Anybody race this past weekend?

What did you do for Mother’s Day?

Best part about your day today?

Training Recap: April 28th – May 7th.

Well, training is pretty much over. We officially started training the last week in January and we spent every Saturday morning battling the cold, wind, rain, sleet, and snow during our long runs. We pushed ourselves to hit our marks for tempo and track workouts and it’s now time to see if the training will pay off. The race is on Mother’s Day and I can’t think of a better present to myself than to qualify for Boston. 🙂
Monday, April 28th:

6.5 tempo miles –

2 warmup (8:22, 7:39)
3 tempo (7:28, 6:49, 7:11)
1.5 cool down (7:50)

Tuesday, April 29th:

Julie’s 30 minute boot camp workout.

Wednesday, April 30th:

6 mile pyramid run –

Thursday, May 1st:

Track – 5 x 1000m in 4:09 (200m active rest interval plus a minute of rest)

1000m times:

Friday, May 2nd:

5.7 easy miles with a 15 minute arm and abs workout

Saturday, May 3rd:

10 miles at an 8:04 pace. Last long run and it felt great.

Sunday, May 4th:

Monday, May 5th:

8 miles at an 8:12 pace. Knee pain started around mile 6…I have no idea where this came from but fingers crossed it feels good on Sunday.

Tuesday, May 6th:

Track – 6 x 400m in 1:37 with 400m active RI

We finished each 400m in under 1:37. Knee felt ok but now my groin has a slight soreness. (Training for 4 months without an issue and now things start to hurt the week of the marathon, not fun.)

Wednesday, May 7th:

REST day. Went out to lunch. 🙂

Thursday, May 8th:

We have 3 miles scheduled for today with an 8:12 pace (this is our marathon pace). Please keep your fingers and toes crossed and hope that my body holds up a little longer!
Since this post is heavy on text, here are some pictures from this last weekend. 🙂

Fun Things Friday!

1. Cheerios with strawberries…such a good combo.

2. Track workout yesterday was dare I say…fun?!?! Well, let’s just say I felt way better than last week and I am feeling more and more ready for next Sunday. Our workout was 5 x 1000m in 4:09 with a 200m RI and another minute of rest.

3. I’m loving this Chapstick right now…and I’m pretty picky about these things.

4. Spicy chicken and cashew salad from Wendy’s. They aren’t lying about the spicy part, but it’s a pretty good fast-food salad.

5. Dark chocolate and berries granola with strawberry Greek yogurt. Snack of champions. 🙂

6. Love this little girl. 🙂

7. Doesn’t every 31 year old have a Mickey Mouse sandwich container? 🙂

8. Tomorrow is our last long run of training! 10 miles, piece of cake! Hmm, now I want cake.

9. I recently read that you should start carbo loading as many as 5 days before the race and increasing carb consumption slowly up until race day. Done!

10. My mom and AB watching Sesame Street. ❤

Tell me something fun about your Friday!

What’s your favorite carb?
