Snow day and the early bird special.

Today was a happy snow day! For once, the storm was worse to the south and we enjoyed a pretty couple of inches up in southern PA. It was great to have an extra day off to relax, fix our water heater, and get the house slightly put back together.

We had a leak from our water heater yesterday and today we noticed that our water was not actually heating.  With the help of some YouTube videos, Chris was able to relight the pilot light and we now have hot water!

I haven’t had almond milk for a really long time and I was craving a bowl of cereal with almond milk in a bad way.  This beautiful bowl of goodness was multi grain cheerios and cinnamon granola with strawberries and banana.  I really like the taste of vanilla milk so I get that…but I buy the light version.

Since I had some extra time on my hands, I decided to actually make a nice home cooked meal for dinner. I started the main course in the morning…bbq chicken in the crockpot. I used a McCormick Seasoning packet which called for the packet mix, ketchup, brown sugar, and water. All you have to do is stir it up and pour it over the chicken and cook on high for 4 hours or low for 8 hours. Shred and enjoy!

I finally fit in a workout while dinner was finishing up and it was not the greatest. This was my first workout since getting sick on Saturday night, so I guess my body is still recovering. I headed to my favorite at home workout resource (YouTube) and I did a Fitness Blender Workout and Jillian MIchael’s 30 Day Shred Level 3.  It definitely felt great to be active again.

Dinner was served at the early bird special time of 4:15 pm.  No, we do not usually eat this early.  Chris had to work at 5, so this was our only option for a sit down meal together.  Along with the BBQ shredded chicken, we enjoyed green beans and baked potatoes.  FYI, the key to a good baked potato is to coat the skin in olive oil and salt and pepper.  🙂

While Annabelle was sick, she slept on and off most of the day. Today was the first day that she was awake from morning to night and she just couldn’t hang past 6:30 pm. I really have no idea what to do with all of this free time!

PSA for the day. Always buy previous season candy that is on sale and if you see these Oreos, please buy them. You can thank me later.

What did you have to dinner tonight?

Favorite Oreo flavor?  This is a tough call, but I really love the chocolate creme ones.

If you have kiddos, what time do they go to bed?  Normally around 8 pm.

I really wish we could open our windows…

It’s VERY COLD in PA right now (like -25 degree wind chills this past weekend) and it seems like everybody is passing around sickness. The day after Annabelle and I returned from Florida, she came down with the stomach bug…in her crib. She is finally feeling better, but it was a rough couple of days and I feel like our house might smell until Spring. TMI? Oh well.

Poor thing 😔

On Saturday evening, I started getting that feeling. I knew the bug was coming for me next. Saturday night and Sunday were pretty rough, but I’m feeling pretty good now. Now we just wait to see if Chris gets it…fingers crossed his couple beers a day keep the stomach bug away. LOL, I made that up myself.

To add to our fun weekend of sickness, we came home to a laundry room full of water today. Luckily, a quick fix to our water heater was all that was needed and we are enjoying hot water this evening.

They already closed my work tomorrow. Snow day!!!!

Have you been sick yet this winter?

Do you have snow where you live? How much?

Weekends (even long ones) are too short.

Hi everyone! I hope you enjoyed your weekend and congrats to those of you who got a 3-day weekend because of snow. 🙂 Even though we didn’t get too much snow, my work was closed and I loved being home for an extra day.

20 mile run. It.was.tough. This was our first 20 miler of our training and we have 3 more to go. C’mon warm weather! It was so great to get it done early (we started at 8 and it was 16 degrees) and I got to hold Jeanette’s 2 new baby goats when we finished! She also sent me home with some farm fresh eggs that taste amazing.

Dinner was salad and baked vegetable lasagna.

Of course I needed dessert…Handel’s Oreo Hurricane for the win.

We met our friends Nick and Kim for lunch and then we went to see their beautiful new home. For lunch, I ordered a turkey sandwich and a cup of cream of crab soup and it was delicious. I wish I took a picture of Chris’ sandwich because it had macaroni and cheese on it!!

This ice cream is the best stuff in the world. The Honey Graham flavor is AMAZING. I can’t even describe how good it is.

Thanks to a snow storm, I got to enjoy an extra day at home this weekend. One of the many reasons I love being home, is that I get to cook more. 🙂 Breakfast was a spinach and cheese omelette and an apple. I used two of my fresh from the farm eggs and added some liquid egg whites to get some more volume.

I really enjoyed my lunch today…I even made double so that I could take it to work for lunch tomorrow. Turkey and ham with spinach on whole wheat potato bread with carrots and cucumbers on the side.

Annabelle had some carrots too and she still had a tiny piece in her mouth after her bath…30 minutes later. Saving it for later I guess. 🙂

Surprise, surprise, I needed something sweet after lunch. I ate a soft chocolate chunk cookie and washed it down with some Starbucks. Perfect combination.

For dinner, my mom and I went to Panera Bread. The place was a ghost town…I guess nobody wanted to venture out in the single digit temps. I tried the shrimp couscous salad with broccoli cheddar soup on the side. The salad was very light and refreshing but it wasn’t very big. Good thing I stopped at TCBY on the way home.

Time to watch The Following and eat fro yo! Enjoy the rest of your night!

PS I haven’t exercised since Saturday (except for chasing around an on-the-move 1 year old) and I can’t wait to get moving tomorrow!

I could get used to this.

Happy Valentine’s Day! Today is another snow day! Did I really shovel for 3 hours yesterday or was I dreaming?!?!?

A big thank you to our neighbor who came to the rescue with a snow blower. 🙂

I could really get used to being at home all day. It’s so fun to make breakfast and hang out with Annabelle (and Chris) all morning.

Blueberry multi-grain pancakes (Tip: add 1 teaspoon of vanilla and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon for a more flavorful pancake)

Annabelle did the cutest thing this morning. Right before Sesame Street started (I have no idea how she knew it was coming on), she sat in her chair and bounced around with excitement. Love her <3.

We ate breakfast pretty early, so I was ready for lunch before noon. I went with a classic pb and j with pop chips and a pear.

Once Annabelle went down for her nap and Chris was at the store, I sat down and relaxed with a good friend…Godiva.

I’m hoping to get to the gym and RUN later today. I need some endorphins in a bad way. 🙂

What are your plans tonight?

Do you like V Day or do you think it’s overrated?

Look at that, we have a blizzard.

Since I wanted to get home and get dinner done quickly (so my parents could get home before the snow started), I picked up Subway on the way home. Meatball sub for my dad and salads for me and my mom.

The salads at Subway are pretty darn good. In the mix: spinach, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, green peppers, onions, cheese, grilled chix, ranch dressing, and BBQ sauce drizzled on top. We added some crushed up tortilla chips too. 🙂 I totally took a picture but it’s MIA. Don’t be too upset…

After dinner, I noticed that I had gotten a package from my Aunt Janice. She made us all fingerless gloves! I CANNOT wait to put AB’s on.

She also sent an Elmo spoon and fork. Maybe Annabelle will start eating well again now that Elmo is involved.
Everything is closed. In fact, everything shut down last night. This is what we woke up to and it’s still coming down strong. Today will be a day full of snuggling and food…I will try to eat healthy options before my boat load of ice cream later.

What better way to start a snow day, right?

Are you snowed in? Playing hooky? Working? On vacation?

I’m still freezing.

Since the Northeast is expecting a monster storm starting tonight, Jeanette and I wanted to fit in a long run while we could still see the ground. My legs were a bit sore from my tempo run on Monday and a make shift body pump style workout I did yesterday, so I wasn’t too excited about it. This seemed like a much better option. 🙂

I ate a Clif Bar for breakfast and it was a really good flavor…chocolate almond fudge. It must have energized me because our 10 miles (9.8 to be exact) were over before I knew it. So what if I couldn’t feel my hands or face? We even hung onto an 8:10 pace, but we both felt as if we were running slower. Seeing improvement in my running makes me a very happy girl. 🙂

I was hangry when we finished, so I ran back to my desk and cooked microwaved this meal. It steams in the bag and it tasted super flavorful and fresh (for a frozen meal).

I also ate a banana and shivered through the afternoon. I cannot get warm! I was so excited when snack time finally rolled around. Strawberry yogurt with chocolate Belvita biscuits is my new favorite snack.

I can’t wait to get home, eat dinner and ice cream, and hopefully enjoy a snow day with my family tomorrow!

Do you have good and bad running weeks?

If you could have any snack right now, what would it be?

Weekend Snapshots!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Mine was pretty low key and it was extended by a day due to snow. 🙂

Friday Night: Dinner at Andy Nelson’s with Chris 🙂

Saturday: 16 mile run with Jeanette, chocolate chip banana muffins, veggie lasagna for dinner

Sunday: Annabelle watching Sesame Street in her diaper and Super Bowl snacks

Monday: Lots of snow, veggies and chicken in the crockpot, Cheerios and banana for breakfast, a ton of bad for me food 😦 (not pictured)

I am more than ready for some healthy eating, a sweaty workout, and a shower.

I hope you had a great Monday!

I need to live through you…what was your workout today???

Another pajamas and snow day.

I’m starting to think we won’t see the grass again until Spring. It’s snowing for the third time this week and it doesn’t show signs of stopping…and I wish I had some corn for popping. LOL.

Chris was at work today, so me and Annabelle had a big girl’s day.

Breakfast: leftover chocolate chip pancakes (from my office party) topped with sliced banana and maple syrup and coffee!

Lunch: chicken salad with cranberries, walnuts, and apples on a potato roll with a side of pretzel crisps.

Nap: Annabelle fought sleep for a while, but now she has been passed out for over 2 hours. 🙂 This is how I found her when she woke up this morning.

Exciting Mail! The nice folks at Hanes sent me a bunch of running gear from Target’s Champion C9 line. I can’t wait to try it out once this snow stops!

Since it’s a winter wonderland outside, I may do a workout in the basement to get my sweat on. My workout will probably be followed by lots of chocolate. 🙂

Did you get snow today?

What was your workout today?

Snow Day!

Yesterday was a relaxing day at home. Our area got enough snow for my work to close, so I spent the day home with Chris and Annabelle. I stayed in my pajamas all day long.

Breakfast: pancakes!

Productivity: I finally ordered our Christmas cards!

Lunch: the snow stopped in the afternoon and Chris went out to get Subway. I was starving and devoured it as soon as he got home.

Snack: peanut m&ms

Dinner of champions: a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios followed by a bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats. The second bowl was necessary because I had milk leftover from the first bowl. 🙂

The rest of the day was spent hanging out with Molly and Annabelle. Girl LOVES the remote and she is always finding new Direct TV features that I didn’t know existed. She has also been recording random shows.

Everybody finally settled down and went to sleep at 9:30. How cute is this?

I set the DVR for the VS Fashion Show and headed to bed. It was pretty easy getting ready for bed since I never got out of my pjs. 🙂

Did you get snow yesterday?

Favorite type of m&ms?
