A long, hot, steamy shower…

…is the only way I warm up after a cold winter run. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I didn’t head out until close to 2 pm today and I didn’t really have a plan or a set number of miles in mind. It was so warm out (read: 30 degrees) and perfect running weather. Well, almost perfect…we had some wind, but it wasn’t bad unless I was in the shade.

I started off with a little over a mile warmup and then headed to a hilly neighborhood to do some hill work. I did 6 hill repeats and it was TOUGH. PS I ran up each hill as fast as I could and then did an easy jog back down. I really wanted to do 10 hill repeats, but I only had the energy for 6.

I continued my run and ended up with 10 glorious miles. I even met a nice man walking his dog and we talked running and races. He suggested the Disney races and I think I’ll have to do the Dopey Challenge next year. ๐Ÿ™‚

After a long hot shower, I downed a salad and pizza. I will def eat some dessert later.
Baby Update: Annabelle went to bed at 8:30 and only cried for 10 MINUTES! She was asleep by 8:45 and slept until 7:30. It was a miracle!!!! Day 3 of no bottle has also been a success. She even ate 3 decent meals today. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m a happy mama.

If you need me, I’ll be spending the evening on the couch. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

What was the favorite part of your weekend?

At home workouts…and brownies.

I work from home on Fridays and that means a couple of things…I wear my pjs all day and I get to eat something other instant oatmeal for breakfast. Chocolate chip pancakes for the win. ๐Ÿ™‚

I just started a new work load and I have been super busy learning everything and the morning flew by. I finally took my lunch around 1 and headed downstairs for an at home workout. I’ve been loving these more and more now that I haven’t been running as much. Today’s workout was Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred (Level 2) and two rounds of this workout I saw on Fitfluential’s Instagram.

It was after 2 by the time I ate lunch and I was starving! I had a veggie burger topped with cheese and served with a side of spinach and carrots. I offered to make Chris lunch and for some reason he didn’t want any… ๐Ÿ˜‰

Annabelle helped me close up shop at 4:30 and I finally showered and got out of pjs…and put on sweats. ๐Ÿ™‚

Running + baseball = a good day.

Annabelle didn’t sleep well last night and then she woke up for the day at early o’clock. Even though today was a planned rest day, I couldn’t resist taking her for an early morning run on the NCR trail. It was a great morning for a run and I ended up with my fastest stroller run to date (I have a BOB!). ๐Ÿ™‚

After a trip to Starbucks and the grocery store, we headed home to wake up Chris (he slept in big time). Next on the agenda, AB’s first trip to Camden Yards to see the Orioles play!

Annabelle is a very energetic and lively little thing (AKA Annabellion), so we didn’t know how she would handle sitting in the stands. I think we spent a few innings in our seats and that was plenty for her. Lady who sat in front of us, I’m sorry that Annabelle kicked you a few times. She didn’t mean it, I promise. ๐Ÿ™‚

We ventured around and took some fun pictures…

…and then headed inside to a nice, air conditioned restaurant for lunch. I ordered a salad topped with berries and walnuts and rounded off my meal with sweet potato tots. They were the best $8 tator tots I’ve ever had.

After walking around for a bit, we called it a day. Annabelle was a good sport and I think she will enjoy going to the ballpark more when she older.

Chris and I are ending this Sunday in a great way…pizza, Big Brother, and ice cream!

PS I am only eating dessert on weekends now and I didn’t have any yesterday. So yes, I will consume a hefty amount tonight.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Baseball fan? Favorite team?

Sweet potato or regular potato?

Cheese or pepperoni pizza?

Fun Things Friday!

1. One of my BFFs (she was my college roommate, Go Tigers!) had her first baby last weekend and I am meeting him this afternoon!

2. We are having dinner (pizza night!) at another one of my BFFs (friends since 6th grade) house tonight. I haven’t seen her and her beautiful family for way too long, so it will be nice to catch up.

(Throwback to January 2013)

3. My awesome coworker made my day today. A Grande soy chai was just what I needed this morning.

4. I made the best dessert this week. Please go buy these Oreos before they stop selling them. ๐Ÿ™‚

5. Annabelle learned how to say “Poppy” this week. It’s so darn cute.

Tell me something fun about your Friday!

What do you normally get from Starbucks?

“Homemade” Pizza with a Twist

Hey guys!ย  I think I’ve finally found my way of cooking.ย  I am not very good at making things from scratch and I really can’t figure out how much of an item to add unless someone else tells me to.ย  I take the “semi-homemade” approach just like Sandra Lee.

Last night, I made this very tasty pizza for dinner and even my dad liked it.ย  He is more of a pepperoni pizza type of guy. ๐Ÿ™‚

“Homemade” Pizza with a Twist

1 store bought pizza dough

1 package of ground turkey (I only used 3/4 of the meat and saved the rest.)

1 jar of salsa

1 handful of spinach

1/4 of a small red onion

3/4 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese

***NOTE:ย  These “measurements” are all estimates because I just went off of feel.ย  Please add as much of each topping as you would like.ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

1.ย  Cook ground turkey in a skillet and season to taste.ย  I just used salt and pepper.

2.ย  In the meantime, pre-cook the pizza dough if it calls for it.ย  The dough I used was pre-cooked for 8 minutes before adding the toppings.

3.ย  Spread salsa on the crust to serve as the sauce.ย  I used the whole jar.

Yes, my pizza is oddly shaped.

4.ย  Add cheese, ground turkey, onions, spinach, and a little more cheese!

5.ย  Bake until cooked and enjoy!ย  I baked mine for about 8 minutes.

FACT:ย  The best way to end a healthy pizza night with the family is to watch Dance Moms and eat a huge bowl of ice cream (bottom layer = cookies and cream, middle layer = double fudge brownie, top layer = strawberry waffle cone…topped with chocolate sauce and cool whip).

Yes, I will be doing an intense track workout today and this is how I properly fuel for my workouts.ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

When you can’t run, shovel!

Since I ate a delicious chocolate donut pretty early this morning, I was ready for second breakfast around 10:30. I made us eggs, potatoes with onions, and bagels. ๐Ÿ™‚

Annabelle spent the morning playing with the snow on the other side of the door.

Since I obviously couldn’t go out for a run, I decided that shoveling (about 15 inches of snow) would be a great workout.

In a little over 2 hours, I had shoveled out our front sidewalk, driveway, and some of our outer sidewalks. I didn’t shovel out the back of our driveway because it made more sense to wait for the plow to come through first.

I was pretty hungry when I got back inside, so I snacked on yogurt with sliced banana and cinnamon granola.

A little while later I went back out and shoveled out the last part of the driveway. Total shoveling time = 3 hours! I wonder how many calories I burned? Enough to have a huge bowl of ice cream? I believe so! FYI…Chris offered to shovel and would have done so, but I insisted on doing it. ๐Ÿ™‚

After shoveling round 2, I was so ready for a shower and dinner. While our pizza was cooking, Annabelle and I snacked on some animal crackers. I just can’t eat one. They are just too good.

Annabelle is now in bed and I will enjoy my nightly ice cream ritual while watching a movie with Chris.

Oh yea, it’s blizzarding again.

How do you stay active when you can’t do your regular activities?

If you live somewhere warm, what was the temperature today??

An awesome running, family, food weekend.

On Friday evening, my mom, dad, Annabelle, and I headed to Ocean City, MD for the weekend.ย  The reason for the trip…the Rehoboth Beach Half Marathon!

Friday night’s events:

Carbo loading ๐Ÿ™‚

A very long and rainy commute.ย  We stopped at Wawa for a potty break/diaper change and a caffeine fill-up.ย  Wawa does not have a baby changing table and we had to change Annabelle in the back seat of my car.ย  Not happy…ย  We finally arrived in Ocean City after 11 pm.ย  It was midnight by the time I got to sleep and that 5 am wake up call came pretty fast.

Saturday’s events:

The Race!!!ย  The race started at 7 am, so I got up bright and early and drove to the start to meet my friend Jeanette.

6 am selfie (lindarunning4two on Instagram)

Thankfully, the rain stopped before the race started and we only had to deal with some chilly air and some wind.ย  Jeanette I ran the first few miles together (mile one was right under 9 minutes and mile 2 was around 8) before I pulled away for the rest of the race.

I settled into a challenging but comfortable pace and just kept going.ย  I had no idea how fast I was running because I forgot to charge my Garmin (#runnerfail)ย and I didn’t bring my phone because of the rain.ย  From feel, I felt like I was running at a sub 8 pace and I just wanted to hold on as long as possible.ย  For the first time ever, I made it to the 10 mile mark and didn’t feel too fatigued.ย  I was definitely tired, but I realized that I may actually do this (get a PR).ย  Once I hit the 12 mile mark, I picked up the pace through the finish line.ย  The race clock read 1:40:18 but I knew my chip time would be faster.ย  I was sooo happy, I definitely had a PR since my previous best time was 1:46:57!

Official Results!

1:39:21!ย  5th out of 117ย in the 30-34 age group.

My friend Jeanette also did great!ย  She finished in 1:43:35 and this was her first race back after a very long injury.ย  Big congrats to Lisa, Everett, and Bruce who also had great races!!!

Breakfast!ย  French toast, eggs, turkey sausage, and coffee!

Outlet Shopping!

Dinner!ย  Blackened salmon and a baked potato.

North Side Park Winterfest of Lights!ย  Poor Annabelle fell asleep on the 5 minute car ride from the restaurant to the park and she was less than thrilled to be out in the cold.

Since the weather forecast for Sunday was pretty snowy and icy, we headed home late Saturday night.ย  We got to my parent’s house around midnight and I have never wanted to get in bed so much in my life…not even after being up for 36 hours during Ragnar.

Sunday’s events:

Cinnamon rolls at my parent’s house

A very snowy, long, and scary ride home

Pizza and football!

Playtime with Annabelle ๐Ÿ™‚

Smith Island Chocolate Cake!

It was such a great weekend.ย  I have to give a big thank you to my parents for coming with me and supporting me in all that I do.ย  Also, thank you to my aunt and uncle for letting us stay at the beach house.ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

Friday and Saturday…lots of pictures.

My Hunger Games

Ever since this past weekend (very busy and lots of running), I have been sooo hungry. I’ve been eating more often and I am thoroughly enjoying it. ๐Ÿ™‚ Here are some foods I’ve enjoyed this past week. PS Don’t judge my dessert intake. Dessert is and always will be a food group in my mind.

I ate 4 pieces of pizza and a cookie ice cream sundae on Sunday evening.

Turkey and provolone on a pretzel roll from a local farmer’s market.

Burrito bowl from Chipotle. This was probably the third time I’ve ever eaten Chipotle and I plan to become a more frequent customer now. ๐Ÿ™‚

Pumpkin bread with maple almond butter and a banana.

Grilled cheese (made on a panini maker) and black bean and vegetable soup…side of baby foot towards the top. ๐Ÿ™‚

Milk and cookies…I may have had this number of cookies times 2…and plus 1.

Lots of salad.

Hot chocolate and chocolate covered pretzels.

Luna bars and Larabars.

What is the best thing you ate this week?
Are you a dessert person?

Pizza and ice cream = perfect running fuel

Happy Friday!

Today ended up being an unplanned rest day. I am actually pretty bad at planning rest days because I don’t enjoy taking them, but I had a perfect excuse to skip the gym today…lunch at Panera Bread with my coworkers Marissa, Kelly, and Kyle.

Kellz and Kyle

For some reason I was starving when I got home from work, so I met Chris at a local pizza place for dinner. I had a salad and two pieces of pizza. I swear the slices weren’t really this huge…

Once Annabelle was fed and in her crib, it was time for ice cream. It’s just too embarrassing to show you this bowl while it is full. ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope I don’t regret that ice cream during my 7 a.m. run tomorrow. We are planning on 10 miles with negative splits…hopefully.

It’s time to follow AB’s lead and head to bed.

Are you running/racing this weekend?

Panera Bread or Subway?
