A weekend at the shore.

Hi everyone. I hope you had a great weekend and wonderful start to your week. I’ve missed you terribly, but I have a lot going on over here and I’m having a hard time finding the time and motivation to post. With that said, I really love documenting my life and posting a million pictures of running stuff and baby Annabelle. So please keep checking in. ūüôā

On Friday evening, Annabelle and I headed to the beach with my cousin Carrie (Chris was working and headed down on Saturday morning). We stopped at a Cracker Barrel for dinner and right as we were finishing a couple sat at the table behind us. AB started crying and reaching towards the table and I couldn’t figure out why. But then, I noticed that the man sitting at the table was wearing an orange Oriole’s shirt. Chris wears an Oriole’s shirt almost everyday during the summer and poor Annabelle thought he was daddy. She ran up to him wanting him to pick her up and I just couldn’t help but laugh. He picked her up and she stopped crying immediately. I couldn’t pass up this photo opportunity…he was a really good sport about it. ūüôā

Annabelle absolutely loved the ocean and she giggled as soon as we walked onto the beach. She is def a beach girl just like her Mommy, Grandses, and cousin. ūüôā

We ate a lot of good food (crabcakes, pizza, ice cream sundaes), but I only managed to take a picture of my freshly made, still warm doughnut. I paired it with some strawberries to make it “healthy”.

I did manage to squeeze in two pretty decent runs around the park on Sunday and Monday morning. While my pace was pretty fast (for me), I felt like I was running a 5 minute mile. I feel like I have lost a lot of fitness since the marathon.

My knee is still not great, but it only hurts during part of my runs and doesn’t hurt when I stop running. I’ve become best friends with the foam roller to try and make it better.

Annabelle enjoyed some playground time while I ran. She is really liking the playground these days. ūüôā

I can’t wait to take her back to the beach when the water (and air) is a bit warmer!

Beach…love it or hate it?

What’s the best vacation you have ever been on?

Frozen hands, holiday pictures, and more cookies.

Yesterday morning, I headed outside for a 7 mile run. I was not prepared for how cold it was…I did manage to wear 5 different colors though.

My body felt great and the 7 miles felt easy (I held an 8:12 pace), but my hands were freezing. I was wearing gloves that I thought were warm, but my hands were swollen and in extreme pain when I finished. I hope Santa brings me warmer running gloves. ūüėČ

At 10 am, we all headed to a local park for a quick (and chilly) holiday photo shoot. My friend is a local photographer who does 15 minute mini shoots and it was the perfect thing for us. I’m excited to see how they turn out!

The rest of the day was spent relaxing (and eating!) with my mom and AB. We went to one of our favorite local spots for dinner, Cracker Barrel, and came home to enjoy some Starbucks and Girl Scout cookies.

Annabelle fell asleep at 6:15 pm. This is super early for her and I was afraid she would wake up at 3 am.

PS I’m happy to report that she slept until 6:45! Happy mommy and baby.

The rest of the night was spent watching Love it or List It and snuggling with Molly. ūüôā

Time to fit in a quick workout (hopefully) before heading to the Ravens game to freeze to death cheer on our team!

Happy Sunday!

Do you like cold weather running?
What kind of gloves do you have?

Best Birthday Ever.

Chris and Annabelle got me the best bday present ever…professional baby portraits. They turned out great and I can’t wait to finally decorate my office cubicle with lots of pictures. ūüôā

Yesterday, I celebrated my 31st birthday. It was definitely my best birthday ever and it has a little something to do with this little girl.

We got up bright and early (after 4 hours of sleep) and headed to the beach! The traffic was pretty bad, so we made a stop for breakfast. I know this will surprise some of you, but we stopped at Cracker Barrel. ūüôā The highlight of breakfast…AB sat in a high hair for the first time!

Once we got settled in the condo we are renting, we headed to dinner. I enjoyed a margarita and a salad with chicken, black bean and corn salsa, tomato, avocado, cheese, and chipotle ranch dressing.

My awesome friends Matt and Kirstyn came down for the night and they hooked me up with this ice cream cake :-). I am so excited to have the leftovers tonight.

30 was a great year and I can’t wait to see what year 31 brings!

What is the best birthday present you have ever gotten?

My weekend in pictures!

She loves watching TV.

Time to start eating oatmeal!

Annabelle was not impressed by the oatmeal.¬† We will keep trying…

Off to Saturday night dinner at Cracker Barrel.

Ready for Sunday Brunch!

Pancakes and french toast with blood orange butter…so good.

Annabelle with Aunt Kim and Uncle Nick!

Sunday afternoon nap…that lasted about 15 minutes :-/.

I hope you are having a great weekend!

Sweating it off…and putting it back on.

I woke up feeling a little bloated from the massive amount of food I consumed yesterday.¬† The only solution was to hit the gym and sweat some of it off.¬† My SIL Emmy and I went to Gold’s Gym and got in a good workout.¬† BTW, they gave her a 1-week visitor pass for free :).

My workout included:

30 minutes on the elliptical – Random program on level 10

5000 meters on the rowing machine – Level 10

2 hours on the stair climber and I burned 1,101 calories!!!  JK, I did 10 minutes on level 12 and burned 101.1 calories.

I also did about 10 minutes of abs…1 minute for each brownie I ate yesterday.

In the afternoon, my mom came up and we all went to our favorite place…Cracker Barrel!¬† I ordered the usual, so I will spare you any more pictures of that.

The crew – John, Emmy, Morgan, Chris, Kenzie, Mom, AB, and me

We couldn’t help ourselves and had to get some of this.

We spent the rest of the night hanging out and watching TV.  Schedule update:  Annabelle was sleeping in her crib by 8 pm!!!

What do you think?

Frozen yogurt or ice cream?

Both please!

What did you do this weekend?

“Scheduling” a 2 month old

Annabelle’s pediatrician suggested that we start putting her on¬†a nighttime schedule.¬† This means that we should start the bedtime routine around 6:30 (bath, story time, feeding) and have her in bed by 7:00.¬† She should be put in her crib sleepy, but not asleep.

Well, the scheduling didn’t really work out today.

6:30 pm

Annabelle is out to dinner at Cracker Barrel…surprising dinner choice I know ūüėȬ† At least she is sleeping right?

Dinner was salad, grilled chicken, and baked potato…and biscuits.

015 016

7:00 pm

Annabelle was at Starbucks to try the new hazelnut latte.

7:30 pm

Annabelle was enjoying some tummy time…chewing on¬†her hand and reading Daddy’s magazine.

019 020

8:00 pm

Annabelle was laughing at Grandses.

10:00 pm

Annabelle is finally asleep and was put in her crib.

BTW…my mom does not have a say in the pictures that I post ;-).

Hopefully we get a little better with this whole scheduling thing soon!

What do you think?

Do you have a set routine or schedule?  Or do you just go with the flow?

I do like to get in a routine, even on vacation!

What are your St. Patrick’s Day plans?

I’m still on Team Edward

I have no problem waking up to this face every morning.

Chris requested waffles for breakfast…his wish was granted.

Molly and I finally finished the pancakes and I also had a waffle…she is really sad that they are all gone.

At noon we were still in our pajamas, so we decided to catch up on the DVR.¬†¬†¬†We watched this week’s episode of The Americans.¬† Keri Russel is definitely not Felicity anymore…you guys used to watch that show right?¬† After the show we finally stopped being lazy and we got our Insanity on.¬† AB wasn’t feeling it today and she got super upset during the warmup so Chris and I had to do it separately today.

My mom came over tonight and we went to Cracker Barrel…no surprise there.¬† On the way home we picked up a movie snack.

My mom and I were twinners and we didn’t even plan it :).

Now to watch Breaking Dawn Part 2!¬† Ok, I confess…this will be my third time seeing it.¬† Even though Chris insists that he hates these movies, he still supports Team Jacob.

What do you think?

What is on your DVR?

The Americans, Dance Moms, The Following

Have you seen all of the Twilight movies?

Yes, too many times :).

Getting to know me: We are having a baby! – Part 2

Did you miss Getting to know me: We are having a baby! РPart 1?  Check out the Baby AB page too!

It was Saturday, January 12th and I decided that I wanted to go look at¬†buy some cars.¬† Well, just one car really…the Subaru Outback.¬† I have always wanted one and they are very roomy and perfect for a growing family.¬† Chris and I along with my parents ate breakfast at Cracker Barrel (yes, I eat there way too much and we have a waiter who considers us regulars) and then headed to the Subaru dealership.¬† Long story short, my dad is a super negotiator when it comes to buying cars and I ended up getting a great deal on an Outback.¬† Since Chris was trading in his truck and we had not brought it with us, we planned to pick the car up on Monday night.

First reason why this weekend was the best weekend in the history of weekends:  Subaru Outback!

We headed home and prepared for the next part of our day.¬† At 4 pm our beloved Baltimore Ravens were taking on the Denver Broncos in the AFC Divisional round of the playoffs.¬† The Ravens were underdogs and this was going to be a tough fight.¬† Before the game even started I remember telling my mom that I wasn’t feeling well.¬† Since I was 37 1/2 weeks pregnant, I assumed I would probably not “feel well” for the next few weeks.¬† This game proved to be the most exciting and stressful game I can ever remember watching and I kept going from laying on the couch covering my eyes¬†to jumping up and down cheering.¬† It was about 6:30 pm and something happened.¬† I’ll spare you the details, but I lost the plug and I started to panic.¬† I quickly texted my good friend who is a physician’s assistant and she assured me that this was normal and it did not mean that I was going into labor.¬† Often times this happens and the woman does not give birth for days or even weeks.¬† I felt fine when I went to bed so I assumed all was well and I was planning to hit the gym the next morning…lol.¬† Oh yeah, I packed my hospital bag before I went to bed…just in case.

Second reason why this weekend was the best weekend in the history of weekends:  The Ravens beat the Broncos!

This picture was taken at the Ravens game the prior week.  I was happy that I could squeeze into my Ray Lewis jersey in honor of his last home game!

At 3 am, I started to feel some light cramping.¬† I was pretty much thinking that this¬†was it,¬†but since I had never experienced it before I really had no idea.¬† I was able to sleep for a few hours and kept checking the time when I woke up in pain.¬† I was only waking up every 45 minutes so there was plenty of time between contractions.¬† This would not last long.¬† By 6 am I was in a lot of pain and had to get out of bed.¬† I started timing my contractions with the¬†Full Term Contraction Timer app and I was¬†having a contraction every 3 to 5 minutes.¬† The picture below is a sample and not actually mine…I wish the duration of my contractions were only 13 seconds.¬† I was experiencing many that were 30 seconds to a minute in length.

iPhone Screenshot 1

I called my mom and she of course told me to call my doctor.¬† Since I had just been to the doctor two days prior and I wasn’t showing any signs of progress, she¬†told me to¬†get comfortable at home and see what happens.¬† I decided to get a shower and then reevaluate the situation.¬† By the time I finished showering, I was stopped dead in my tracks when I had a contraction and I was actually getting sick with some of them.¬† I was in a lot of pain, exhausted, and dehydrated because I couldn’t keep down any fluids.¬† I woke Chris up¬†and told him to shower and pack his bag.¬† We headed to my parents apartment because they live very close to the hospital.

On the way to the hospital, Chris stopped at 7-11 to get gas….and a buffalo chicken taquito.¬† The smell of that thing was gross and I was having enough trouble as it was!

While he was inside buying this nastiness, my water broke…or at least I think it did.¬† It was not that gushing bucket full of water you see on TV, but I was convinced that it was time to get to the hospital.¬† We arrived at the hospital around 10 am.¬† It was a very busy morning in the labor and delivery department and I had to wait a little while to be checked.¬† I was finally checked and I was 3 cm dilated.¬† Since it was so busy, we stayed in this “check to see if you are really in labor” room for quite some time.¬† At this point I was in so much pain.¬† The pain was so much worse than I could ever have imagined.¬† My contractions were coming one right after another and I didn’t have any time to catch my breath.¬† I was sooo¬†ready for an epidural at this point and I couldn’t get one fast enough.¬† I was really bummed that I NEEDED one because I really wanted to try and do this naturally.¬† I just couldn’t imagine having to feel that pain with no breaks for who knew how much longer.

We were finally transferred to the delivery room and they gave me the biggest one because I had been waiting for a while.  It was a little while longer before I was given the epidural (2 ladies were ahead of me), but I finally got it and it did not hurt one bit.  The anesthesiologist (who was gorgeous, lol) was finished in a matter of minutes and I started to feel some relief.  The labor and delivery nurse checked me once again and I had progressed to 9 cm!!!!  I progressed from 3 cm to 9 cm in very little time and this is why I was in sooo much pain.  My doctor was amazed and she was glad that I ignored her advice and got to the hospital.  I was at 10 cm a short time later and we started pushing!  After 2 hours of steady pushing, Annabelle was born at 3:05 pm weighing 6 pounds, 3 ounces!

Third and by far the most important reason this weekend was the best weekend in the history of weekends:  Annabelle Grace was born.

She is a happy and healthy baby girl and we are so blessed to have her!

I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it.  I am one proud mama :).

A mini workout, Cracker Barrel, and a new way to get fit

Hi Everyone!

I am super exhausted today.  AB decided she only wanted to sleep about an hour at a time last night.  Each time she fell asleep in my arms, but decided she was awake and ready to party when I put her in her crib.  It seems that some days (and nights) all she wants to do is eat.  Hopefully tonight will be a better night for everyone.

Our weather this morning was cold and windy and looked like rain.  Instead of taking a walk, I decided to do a mini workout inside.  The workout consisted of:

  • 30¬†jumping jacks
  • 20 knee raises (on each side)
  • 30 jump ropes (when you pretend to jump rope without actually having one)
  • 20 squat jumps
  • 15 pushups
  • 30 situps

I repeated the workout 3 times and worked up a good sweat.¬† Since I haven’t really exercised since January 11th (2 days prior to giving birth), this was actually quite hard and I will be sore tomorrow.

After I showered, we all headed out to get breakfast.  Ok, we ate breakfast foods but it was lunch time by this point.

Annabelle is stylin in her tights and boots today.

We ate breakfast at Cracker Barrel.¬† There aren’t too many choices in our town and CB sure makes good pancakes.¬† Chris and I both ordered the Mama’s Pancake Breakfast with eggs over easy and turkey sausage.¬† Since I am still getting used to taking pictures of everything, please imagine the eggs and turkey sausage that were once on that plate :).

006 007

I am super excited for this weekend!¬† Since I go to the doctor on Thursday and will hopefully be all clear to get sweaty, I am joining my running buddies for a run on Saturday morning!¬† I know that I will have to start slow since it’s been about 10 weeks since I did any running, but I am more than ready to get back to it.

Chris and I will also be starting this on Friday…wish us luck.

February 25 010

Since we have AB now, I figured it would be great to have something we can both do at home without needing any equipment.¬† ¬†I will be posting before and after pictures to show our progress!¬† Ok, I’m pretty sure Chris will not support this but I will post my pictures at least :).
